Konstantin Morgoshia is an active supporter of pro-Russian businessman Levan Vasadze and one of the founders of the xenophobic-homophobic movement. He was at the head of all the unions that conducted Russian interests at times. It is the same now.
Morgoshia started his “political-social” activities with the “Alliance of Patriots”. In 2016, he ran as a majoritarian candidate in Mtskheta. He failed to win the election and soon left the party.
This is the time when the “Georgian March” relatively spread its wings. Morgoshia found shelter there and took the lead. According to the leader of the “March”, Sandro Bregadze, he and Konstantine Morgoshia shared the office rent or other necessary expenses. Morgoshia was the organizer of the “Georgian March” rallies several times. In 2020, the “Georgian March” was called a Russian-funded force by Estonian intelligence. We also read in the report that propaganda has “significantly increased” in recent years, allegedly to strengthen traditional values in Georgia, but in fact, their aim is to divide society and lead the country away from the Western course.
Eventually, the ways pf Morgoshia and the “Georgian March” parted and he formed a new organization, “Alternative for Georgia.” The organization owns Facebook pages and a television broadcasting license. Due to xenophobic-homophobic messages and spreading fake news, the Facebook administration blocked their accounts several times. Among them was the personal page of Konstantine Morgoshia.
“Alternative for Georgia” is a big supporter of Levan Vasadze’s movement. You will learn more about them from the extensive material prepared by “iFact”. Konstantine Morgoshia also stands for Vasadze’s “Unity, Identity, Hope” and does not rule out a political role in this movement in the future.
Business and Real Estate of Konstantine Morgoshia
Morgoshia has a large family. Accordingly, real estate and companies are also registered on them. Konstantine himself is a co-owner of 2 companies. Morgoshia holds a 51 percent in Magnus Design Ltd. The company’s activities are related to construction, projecting, and design.
In 2015, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation, and Refugees paid 82 thousand GEL to Magnus Design Ltd. The Ministry signed contracts with the company directly, without competition.
The second company, wholly owned by Konstantine Morgoshia, is KEM Construction Ltd. The company is engaged in mediatory and investment activities.
Morgoshia is also a director of 4 companies. Three of these companies are owned by his aunt, Tsiala Morgoshia, and one is a non-governmental organization. NNLE “Caucasus” was founded by Konstantine Morgoshia together with Davit Nemsadze and Lasha Amirejibi in April 2018. The organization charter states that its activities are to maintain peace in the conflict regions of the Caucasus and to promote the provision of medical assistance in the exchange of prisoners or in the conflict region.
When Archil Tatunashvili was tortured to death in Tskhinvali, Morgoshia moved to occupied Tskhinvali. As he himself explained, he went there to talk about handing over the body. At that time, he was an ordinary citizen of Georgia, however, it was not hard for him to cross the Ossetian-controlled territory. It seems that he has some influence in the occupied territories because Morgoshia crossed the so-called border and nobody stopped him when Zaza Gakheladze was detained in the area controlled by us and has been in Tskhinvali prison for 11 months already.
Morgoshia has a stable relationship with our government. The government gave him a huge number of real estate in the suburbs of Tbilisi at a symbolic price. “iFact” provided full information about it.
Morgoshia does not simply have a business relationship with the current government. His close friend is Mamuka Mdinaradze, the executive secretary of the Georgian Dream. As Morgoshia wrote in a post on his personal Facebook page, Mdinaradze was the closest friend of his son’s godfather and childhood friend. Mdinaradze was detained during the UNM government and Morgoshia was sending him parcels to prison. Their friendship continued even after Mdinaradze was released from prison. Then Mdinaradze, as a lawyer, defended Morgoshia’s rights. The previous government arrested Morgoshia on charges of misappropriation of state property and fraud. According to Morgosia, UNM forced his father to give up a five percent stake in the Marco Polo Hotel in Gudauri.
After that, Morgoshia, as he says, learned the lesson and no longer registers property in his own name. It is the strategy Morgoshia uses to this day. Much of his real estate or business is in the name of his wife, aunt, and father. They own a total of 20 companies. Morgoshia’s father died a few months ago, however, in official documents the property still remains in his name.
Konstantine Morgoshia’s second wife, 28-year-old model, and designer is Nino Gozalishvili. She first completed a degree in journalism at Tbilisi State University and then MA in public relations at GIPA.
The business activity of Gozalishvili starts in 2019. At that time she founded “Kartuli” Ltd and “Atelier 27” Ltd. In 2020, she became the director of two companies. Among them is the “Charity Fund Konstantine.” According to the documents, the activities of the organization are to help the socially disadvantaged population. However, we could not find information about the activities of this foundation on the social network or on the Internet. Another company headed by Gozalishvili is Konstantine Investment Group Ltd. In this company, the wife replaced her husband in November 2020.
5 properties are registered in the name of Gozalishvili as per Public Registry, 2,900 sq.m. land with buildings in total. One of them is a three-story house under construction in Kiketi. Gozalishvili bought 1,502 sq.m. land last year for 143 thousand GEL. Morgoshia’s complice Levan Vasadze also lives in Kiketi. There is also Levan Vasadze’s Iakob Gogebashvili school, where Konstantine Morgoshia’s children also study. The school fee is $ 3,300 per student, which is more than 10 thousand GEL at the current rate.
2020 seems to have been financially successful for the Morgoshia family. Last year, his wife bought a 500 sq.m. land in Saburtalo, Tbilisi, in which she paid 50,000 GEL. Now a 4-story residential house is being built in this area as well, with two underground and two above-ground floors. The total area of the house will be 647 sq.m.
We contacted Nino Gozalishvili for an interview. She replied in writing and confirmed that “Kartuli” Ltd and “Charity Foundation Konstantine” are not active yet, but she plans to launch them in the nearest future. Atelier 27 Ltd. is her hobby and is engaged in clothing design.
“I run an investment company with my family, but mostly I have to accomplish some works. The profile of the investment company is to attract funds from different countries and invest in Georgia in development, agriculture, and tourism,” Nino Gozalishvili wrote to us.
Tsiala Morgoshia, 78, is Konstantine’s aunt and companies have been registered in her name for years. Tsiala Morgoshia’s trustees are Konstantine and Irakli Morgoshia, who often register real estate properties and companies instead of their aunt.
The shares of 7 commercial and 2 joint-stock companies were registered in the name of Morgoshia’s deceased father, Emzar Morgoshia. His companies operate in various fields, starting with hotel services, ending with the banking sector. Emzar Morgoshia’s companies also participated in state procurements. In 2011-2019, his company, Golden Valley Ltd. signed contracts worth 10 thousand GEL with various authorities. All of these procurements took place directly, in a simplified manner, without competition.
Emzar Morgoshia owned two apartments in Tbilisi and one in Kobuleti; he also owned the house in Borjomi, Tsemi with 3,721 sq.m. land and also in Lisi, Tbilisi with 4,648 sq.m. land.
